ii. The hike · scaling Mount Gamti

A short trail with an outsized payoff.

You don’t need to be an expert mountaineer to experience the best of Bovilla. The hike up Mount Gamti is short — but the reward at the summit is genuinely cinematic.

The metal stairs at the top

The final push to the summit features a set of metal stairs bolted straight into the rock face. There is a nominal fee of 100 LEK (about €1) to access the upper viewing platform. If you have a severe fear of heights, the restaurant level offers a comparable panorama without the vertigo.

The reward

At the summit, you are greeted with sweeping, uninterrupted views of the entire reservoir and the sprawling green valleys below. On a clear day, the line of sight extends to the eastern flank of Dajti and, faintly, the foothills approaching Krujë.
