Lake Bovilla is one of Albania's most spectacular viewpoints, but the final road to the lake is steep and unpaved, making it unsuitable for many rental cars. Our Lake Bovilla 4×4 Tour takes you comfortably to the Balcony of Bovilla, where you'll have time to enjoy the panoramic views, take photos, and explore the area without rushing.
Hotel pickup is included, and you can choose between a shared or private experience (private at an extra cost). If available, we can also arrange a later departure for a sunset tour. Let us know your preferences when booking, and we'll confirm the available options before your reservation.
Before you book: read our honest take on whether Lake Bovilla is worth visiting, check the getting there guide, and skim our practical tips.

Things people ask about this trip.
-
Q.01
Can I book the 4×4 privately, just for my group?
A.Yes. You can run this tour shared at €40 per person, or private at an extra cost. Private means the whole vehicle is yours, with no other guests and the departure time set around you rather than a fixed schedule. Tell us your group size when you book and we will confirm the options and the price before you reserve.
-
Q.02
Can you do it for the sunset?
A.Often, yes, subject to availability. We move the pickup later so you reach the Balcony of Bovilla for golden hour and stay until the light goes, and we bring blankets because it cools down fast up there. Ask for the sunset timing when you book and we will confirm whether it is available on your date.
-
Q.03
Is it suitable for families with young children?
A.Yes, and it is the easiest of our four tours for small children. The 4×4 drives almost the whole climb, so the only walking is a short, flat stretch to the viewpoint. Ask for the family version and we slow the pace and add stops. Child seats are free, and children under 6 go free.
-
Q.04
What time is sunset at Lake Bovilla?
A.It moves a lot through the year, roughly 20:00 in June and 16:40 in December. If you book the sunset version we set your pickup so you reach the balcony about an hour before, and confirm the exact time when you book.
-
Q.05
What happens if it is cloudy?
A.The balcony is worth the drive in most weather, and overcast skies often give better photographs than a clear one. If the forecast rules out any sunset at all we tell you the day before, and you can move the date or cancel for a full refund.
-
Q.06
Can you do this as a proposal or an anniversary?
A.Yes, we are asked often. Tell us when you book and we will get you to the balcony early, keep the spot clear, and stay out of the way. We do not charge extra for it.
